Atlas Defense Consulting was founded in 2016 by Jonathan Reed, a distinguished defense strategist and acquisitions expert with over two decades of experience in military intelligence and program management. After 22 years of service, Jonathan was widely sought after by major defense firms. However, he was determined to maintain control over his work—choosing clients and projects that aligned with his values and directly supported the Warfighter.
With a deep passion for defense strategy, procurement, and operational efficiency, Jonathan established Atlas Defense Consulting to bridge the gap between innovative defense solutions and those who need them most. His goal was to collaborate with organizations that shared his commitment to national security, ensuring that only the most effective and mission-ready capabilities reached those in uniform. The name “Atlas” was inspired by his time overseeing strategic modernization initiatives, symbolizing the company’s role in carrying the weight of critical defense challenges.
In 2018, David Carter joined as co-owner, bringing expertise in business development, intelligence analysis, and defense market strategy. Together, Jonathan and Daniel have built Atlas Defense Consulting into a trusted advisory firm known for its strategic insight, industry expertise, and unwavering commitment to supporting defense agencies and industry partners.
